This Cherry Smoothie is perfect for a quick tasty breakfast or a healthy afternoon snack. An easy smoothie recipe with only 4 ingredients and no added refined sugar. Gluten Free, Vegan, DF, Paleo.Cherry Smoothie in glass with cherry on top and cherries in background

Smoothies are just so simple, tasty and great when you're looking for a healthy dose of fruits or veggies.

And this cherry smoothie is no exception...

Packed full of flavor and nutrition making it the perfect way to start your day.

So I've been experimenting with smoothie variations for quite sometime now....

And I really love this blueberry smoothie and of course chocolate is ALWAYS a go to.

But then I realized I hadn't come up with a smoothie where cherries are the star...

And since I've been seeing cherries everywhere at my local grocery stores, I knew I had to grab some fresh ones while still in season.

Cause August is flying by and I wanted to be sure to share this before the month was over.

What's in this Cherry Smoothie recipe:

    • Frozen Cherries- fresh for topping
    • Banana- frozen
    • Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
    • Almond extract

Frozen cherries in a white bowl with a fresh cherry beside it.

I opted to use frozen cherries since you can usually find those year round at the grocery store.

But if you happen to find fresh cherries in season you could buy those and freeze them yourself....

Just a little extra work involved since you'll need to pit them and freeze them before making the smoothie.

How to make a fruit smoothie:

They can easily be made with a variety of fruit combinations. Just pick a couple of your favorites.

I prefer to buy the frozen fruits to make smoothies and since I almost always have frozen bananas then I'll usually add those as well.

Depending on your dietary needs you can use a plant based milk or regular milk...

Or even add some Greek yogurt if dairy isn't an issue.

And you can adjust the consistency of the smoothie by either adding some extra ice for a thicker smoothie or adding more milk for thinner.

Cherry Smoothie in a vitamin blender.

Frozen fruit also does help to make smoothies thicker but if you do use fresh fruit just add extra ice.

And they are so convenient to have for a quick breakfast or snack loaded with lots of nutrients.

And did you know that cherries are high in anti-inflammatory compounds and melatonin which may actually increase sleep quality in some people.🤔
