Just had to leave a review. These were by far the best, moist, not dry cookies I have ever made with coconut flour. Thanks for this recipe, itβs a keeper.
Stephanie
You're welcome and thanks for the lovely feedback! β€οΈ
Jenni
Just okay. Needed a lot more coconut flour to absorb the oil, they were very greasy.
Oriana
Just made these! First time using coconut flour. OMG, they taste amazing! Just like a brownie. And they were so easy to make. Thank you so much for this recipe!
Stephanie
You're welcome and thanks for the lovely feedback!
Connie
Yummy! Easy and just sweet enough. Kind of like a bite of brownie
Staci
These have a nice chocolate taste but they need a sweetener. Next time I would definitely use stevia or something- maybe a little more sugar free syrup. But the chocolate flavor is nice.
Stephanie
You could add a little extra maple syrup if prefer a sweeter cookie!
sienna
I think everyone's coconut flour is different because it seems some peoples worked and some were very wet. I do know it is a very absorbent flour, mine was almost liquid (but do note i used substitutes: sugar for maple syrup, butter for coconut oil) so i added another heaped tablespoon of coconut flour and cocoa. I also topped it with some desiccated coconut and sugar and they came out lovely once the mixture was actually able to me moulded. Thank you, my first time using coconut flour!!
Stephanie
You're welcome and glad it worked out!
Nylie
Can you use honey instead of maple syrup..? I only have pancake syrup.
Stephanie
Hi Nylie, I haven't personally tested the recipe with honey so I can't tell you for sure what the results might be. Honey isn't as sweet as maple syrup but you could certainly try. Let me know if you try it and how they turn out for you.
Nylie
Hi Stephanie
I did try it with the honey. It turned out good. Thanks for the recipe.
Stephanie
You're welcome and I'm glad to hear it worked out for you! π₯°

I didnβt have chocolate chips, so I used 1/3 cup Cacao, 1/3 cup paleo flour, 1/3 cup coconut oil and 1/3 cup maple syrup. The dough was pretty liquid, but the cookies were nicenn
Cora
I used Aguave Nectar and sugar-free chocolate chips bc thatβs all I had. Itβs thinner than honey, so I added another few tsps of flour. Added a few walnuts in place of @2tsp. Of the choc. Chips. Turned out well.
I guess you can tell improvised bc someone sent me the recipe at 10pm. My daughter went strictly by the recipe and thought they were a little too cake-like. Would more oil fix that?
Katie
What can I substitute for the coconut oil besides butter? Could I use canned pumpkin or applesauce?
Stephanie
I've only tested the recipe using unrefined coconut oil. I can't say for sure what the results would be using pumpkin or applesauce other than it would alter the flavor some. I'd recommend trying a vegan butter or another neutral flavored oil such as olive oil.
clara
I feel it is very hard to do the shaping for the cookies, the batter is way too soft and stick all over my fingers.
how could you do it in such a nice round shape?
Stephanie
Hi Clara, I like to use a cookie scoop to get equal portions. You can lightly dampen the cookie scoop or your hands if you find the batter is too sticky! Also you can try using a fork to press down on the top of the cookies. Hope this helps! π
Dave
These were really dry had to have a glass of water to get one cookie down
Stephanie
Hi Dave, the cookies should not have been dry! If you need help troubleshooting the recipe just let me know.
Hal
I always wet my fingers ...to mold the cookies
Cora
Hi Clara,
I thought my mix was thin because I used aguave nectar. I added just a little more flour (@3tsp) and the cookies turned out great!!
Mon
Just made this today. Got me scared to see that the batter was quite runny. But they came out great. Thank you!
Victoria
Can you make these with an egg substitute like flax or chia?
Stephanie
Hi Victoria, I haven't personally tested the recipe with an egg substitute, so can't say for sure. I would think it should work fine though. Let me know if you try it and how it works out!
Victoria
I tried a banana (a whole banana because 1/2 banana = 1 egg). Very tasty (on the sweet side) and the texture isnβt bad at all! Iβll try flax another time.
eliana
Hi Stephanie,
"How are you? I tried your delicious chocolate coconut flour cookies recipe. They are so yummy!!!!!! and the fact they're small size, and not too sweet is a bonus for me. The question I have for you is Can you freeze them and for how long?
Thank you
eliana c
Stephanie
Thanks for asking and I'm doing well Eliana!π Glad to hear you're enjoying the cookies... and you can certainly freeze the cookies. Make sure to freeze them in airtight containers and I'd recommend storing them up to 3 months. Hope this helps!
Phoebe
Hi Stephanie, just want to say thank you for this recipe. First time baking with coconut flour and these are delicious! Can I replace the coconut oil with something else? Milk/almond milk or water? Just to cut some calories down as I need to lose some weight while eating healthy.
Thank you again x
Stephanie
You're welcome Phoebe! So glad you Enjoyed them! I wouldn't recommended replacing the coconut oil with milk or water as you wouldn't yield the same results with the cookies. The cookies are low carb and I think if you enjoy them in moderation you should be fine! β€οΈ
annette
I googled and found out instead of coconut oil you can use olive oil
Stephanie
Hi Annette, I don't know that I'd recommend olive oil for this particular recipe even though you can use it as a replacement for coconut oil in some recipes.. I'm just not sure the flavor would work well in these cookies. Let me know if you give it a try!
Shirl
I made these today for the first time ... they are incredibly delicious!!! Thank you for such an easy, excellent recipe!!
Stephanie
Yay!! I'm so glad to hear you loved them Shiri! π
Genoa
I made these today and they are good. I didnβt add any chocolate chips and I doubled the recipe. I like the level of sweetness. Not too intense and I can give them to my kids without them getting overloaded on sugar. The cookies turned out cakey and they remind me of a brownie but healthier. Thank you for the recipe!
Stephanie
You're welcome Genoa! Glad to hear you and the kids are enjoying them. π
Jennifer
We loved them!! Just finished making them and my picky kids almost finished eating them! Super easy and quick to make. I packed the flour and they held their shape pretty well. Used honey instead of maple syrup. Thanks!!
Stephanie
Yay!β€οΈ So glad to hear you Guys loved them.
Rosie
I have made these twice following the recipe exactly, and both times the dough was the consistency of brownie batter. I added a few spoonfuls of coconut flour to thicken it and then used a spoon to portion them. They taste great nonetheless! I have been using King Arthur's coconut flour, maybe another brand would make more of a dough. I also wonder if you pack the coconut flour when you measure it? Thanks!
Stephanie
Hi Rosie, the consistency of the cookies should not be runny at all and you should be able to easily scoop the cookies onto a baking sheet. I haven't worked with King Arthur's coconut flour so I can't speak on that. But I've linked in the recipe card to the coconut flour that I always use and love. Also make sure that you're combining everything really well.. And Yes I do always pack my coconut flour. Hope this helps and glad you're Enjoying the cookies!π
RACHAEL JOHNSON
So far so good I added sugar substitute and 1/4 cup of water instead of maple syrup and a tsp of vanilla to this recipe. I only used 1/4 cup of chocolate chips as well since I am trying to stay low carb. It turned out pretty good coconut flour always has that kind dry taste but all in all for 5 net carbs per cookie it was a nice little treat <3 waiting for the rest to cool so I can try one while not burning my tongue haha
Valentina
Hi! They taste delicious, only thing they came out too dry. Do you suggest adding a bit of water to the dough or maybe more oil? X
Stephanie
Did you follow the recipe exactly? What brand of coconut flour did you use? I have noticed different results depending on the brand of coconut flour used. I would recommend adjusting the amount of coconut flour you use.
Andrea Scheingross
These look delicious! Would it be possible to use melted butter, or a neutral olive oil, for the melted coconut oil?
Stephanie
Thanks. I haven't tried them with melted butter or olive oil so not sure what the end result would be. Let me know if you try it and how it turns out for you.
Chetna
I tried ur recepie.. Just I replaced maple syrup with coconut sugar as my daughter wanted them to be sweet.
The cookies turned out yum.. However I suded the same amount of sugar as maple syrup and the cookies were not that sweet.
I am so trying the next batch with slightly more coconut sugar.
Nida Naguib
I followed the exact recipe but somehow my batter remained very liquid. I wonder what I am doing wrong.
Stephanie
Hi Nida, if you followed the recipe exactly it should not have been liquidy at all. Did you melt the coconut oil first? You could always add just a little bit more coconut flour being careful to only add a little at a time since coconut flour absorbs liquid very quickly.
Mieka
Just made these for my sweet tooth fix and they are pretty good! I'm just glad that I had all of the ingredients already in my cupboard!!
Stephanie
Yay... Glad you Enjoyed.π
Cathy
Hello. You mention the cookies are low carb, but how many carbs do you think they contain?
Stephanie
Hi Cathy, I just added the nutrition information to this recipe but to answer your question approximately 9.7 g of carbs per cookie.
Marc Massery
This is like the 3rd or fourth thing Iβve ever baked in my life. Came out really good. I put in barely any chocolate chips because Iβm truing not to eat refined sugar. Came out great even still. Super easy and relatively cheap for gf. Thank you!
Stephanie
You're Welcome and so glad you Enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by to let me know.π
Latisha
These look so good, going to make them. But how long do they cook for?
Stephanie
Thanks Latisha! Hope you Enjoy them π and sorry if it wasn't clear on baking time but you'll want to bake them approximately 12-15 minutes.
Cookilicious
This is great as I am always on the lookout for new cookies recipes and I loved this one.
kim
Love that these are paleo and they look absolutely wonderful! Will definitely be trying!
Stephanie
Thanks Kim π and yes it's hard to believe they're actually good for you!
Reema
Can we omit maple syrup and put stevia
Stephanie
I haven't tested this recipe without the maple syrup so I can't tell you for sure how it would turn out. You could certainly try it.. But you may have to add more liquid to make up for omitting the maple syrup since coconut flour is rather dense to bake with. Let me know if you try it and how it works out.
Taylor Kiser
These are cookie heaven! They look so chocolatey and delicious!
Catherine Brown
Hmm, I haven't tried making something like these yet. Are they cakey or chewy? They certainly look chocolately!
Stephanie
They're so good Catherine! Kind of a mix between chewy & cakey, but I love the texture. And sooo chocolately that even half a cookie satisfies my chocolate cravings π
Jessica Formicola
These chocolate cookies are calling my name! They look so good!
