Caramelized Onion Dip (Gluten Free & Low Carb)
Caramelized onion dip is made with fresh caramelized onions, sour cream and mayo. The perfect dip for parties, entertaining or anytime.

yellow onions chopped
sprinkle of salt on onions
dried parsley flakes
salt & pepper to taste
Melt butter and olive oil over medium heat in cast iron skillet and add chopped onions.
Cook about 4-6 minutes. Then add dried thyme, a sprinkle of salt over onions and stir.
Continue to cook and stir checking frequently approximately 20 more minutes.
Then add balsamic vinegar, stir and remove from heat to cool.
Put cooled caramelized onions in a bowl along with remaining dip ingredients and combine.
Cover and refrigerate a minimum of 2 hours before serving.
Taste for salt & pepper prior to serving and add if necessary.
